Becoming a mum is both a rewarding and beautiful experience. A new baby beings a transition in your life which will also bring some challenges.
If like me, you had an idea of what being a mum will look like for you. That your children will be born with similar personalities to you and your partner, like a mini us. Therefore it will be easy to manage the outbursts, the never ending crying that always seems to happen about 3.30am until 5am , when it’s impossible for you to fall back to sleep. Sometimes motherhood becomes a game of *crack the Da Vinci code*, is it teething, are they too hot, do they have a rash should I rush to the hospital?
This is all part and parcel of being a mum and providing a safe nurturing place for your baby to grow. It’s also extremely important to maintain a healthy body and mind . We can and should give ourselves the tools to cope during this new chapter of our lives. Pilates and Yoga are both wonderful forms of exercise that support all that your body is going through or has gone through during pregnancy. Of course with the added benefit of calming the mind.
This was so important for me and still is as a mum of 2 active kids age 4 & 6years. Yoga & Pilates promotes awareness of the mind. Sometimes it can be difficult to have your own thoughts while caring for children, if you don’t make time for you, all your energy goes into constant distraction of running from A to B.
